The Mystery of the Female Condom

Did you know there is such a thing as a female or “internal” condom? Now, we know this may be confusing for some, but traditional condoms aren’t the only thing helping to keep away STDs during sex. While the traditional condom has been around for centuries, the internal condom is relatively new to the scene, emerging in the 1980’s, originally known as the Female Condom. Since then, the internal condom has grown in production and effectiveness, but is still disproportionately unused, underrated, and even unheard of to many people. Although heavily marketed towards women, there is still a lack of education and a lack of access that casts a shadow of mystery behind this condom.

So what lies behind the veil of confusion? Here’s what you need to know:

One Size Fits All

The internal condom is about twice as large as traditional condoms. The wider design helps to fit to the walls of the vagina and produce a more natural sensation. The size of the outer ring also helps protect both partners against STDs that are a result from skin-to-skin contact (Bonus Points!). Also, it is a good alternative for same gender loving men that engage in anal sex to protect themselves from HIV and STDs. It is a win win for everyone!

Feels Like Nothing Is There

Does the feeling of wearing a condom turn you off? Is it harder for your man to finish when the barrier feels obvious? Luckily, the internal condom warms up from the skin and makes it feel like nothing is there. You get the same protection with a more natural sensation. Plus, the condom is latex free so there is no need to fear of having an allergic reaction to latex.

You Are In Control

You may be wondering what the ring in the bottom of the condom is used for. The ring holds the condom in place, but, this is not the best feature. The internal condom can be inserted up to 8 hours before use. Is your new boy-toy taking you out to dinner tonight? Are you not sure how things are going to play out afterwards? It’s easier than ever to be prepared! You can wear this condom in advance, with very minimal discomfort. Plus, you are 100% in control of your sexual health by being the one with the condoms ready to go!
