Winter Park STD/STI Testing: What To Expect From Your Appointment

Winter Park STD/STI Testing: What To Expect From Your Appointment

Anyone can be exposed to a STD/STI (Sexually Transmitted Disease/Sexually Transmitted Infection). Testing is the best way to take care of you and your partner(s). At Hope & Help, our prevention team and medical providers are here to help!

Our #1 Priority Is You!

STDs/STIs are common and most are curable. What’s important is knowing you’ve got a STD/STI and getting the right treatment ASAP. At Hope & Help, we use Talk, Test, Treat to address STDs/STIs:

  • Talk:  Contact Hope & Help to talk and educate yourself about STDs/STIs
  • Test: Get tested frequently and learn ways to prevent acquiring a STD/STI
  • Treat:  Get treated as soon as you are diagnosed, if you do acquire a STD/STI

When Do I Need To Be Tested?

If you’re sexually active, STD/STI testing helps you to stay healthy and puts you in control of your health. Testing is really common and the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) says that everyone between the ages of 13 and 64 should be tested at least every year for HIV, with additional screenings for others depending on their situations.

If You Don’t Test, You Don’t Know

Lots of people get tested once or twice a year, others test whenever they have a new partner, and some test less often if they are taking a break from sex or are with only one partner. It’s a good idea to talk to your healthcare provider and see what they recommend! Get tested if:

  • You have sex with someone, and you think they might have an STI/STD
  • You have sex with someone that you know has an STI/STD
  • You’re experiencing unusual or concerning symptoms
