PEP - An HIV Prevention
PEP is About HIV Prevention
nPep, or non-occupational post-exposure prophylaxis, is a medication regimen taken after potential exposure to HIV to reduce the risk of infection.
nPep, or non-occupational post-exposure prophylaxis, works by providing a combination of antiretroviral drugs to individuals who have been potentially exposed to HIV outside of occupational settings, reducing the risk of infection if taken within a specific timeframe after exposure. The sooner you start nPEP, the better.
nPep is typically taken within 72 hours as a daily regimen of antiretroviral medication for a duration of 28 days following a potential exposure to HIV.
